¡Bienvenidos to Guava Lava!

¡Hola, hola, my name is Laura! I'm a student at Johnson & Wales University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree on Culinary Nutrition, with a minor on Food Studies. (Great news: I’ll be graduating soon, in 2023!)

As a puertorriqueña and vegetarian, it's hard to indulge in my favorite antojitos boricuas, since most contain animal products. That's how this blog came to life: Guava Lava is a collection of your favorite gustitos criollos, with all the flavor and none of the bacon.

Join me in this journey, creating vegetarian versions of classic Hispanic dishes. Mofongo, empanadas, pastelón, pasteles boricuas, habichuelas guisadas, tacos, tembleque, and much more!
